Save Your Waistline

...and donate your extra Halloween candy or candy leftovers to Operation Gratitude! Local dentists will take those extra calories, er, candies off your hands for $1 per pound and will send them to troops serving overseas. For information on a participating dentists in your area, check out http://www.halloweencandybuyback.com/index.html and also see Operation Gratitude on Facebook. Our local Noodles and Company stores are also offering a trade...have the kiddies turn in even one piece of candy for this great cause, and they will get a free kids meal on November 7th!

What a great way to support our troops and unload some of the hoards of candy that I KNOW are sitting around your place, just like the bowls and platters full of it that we have all over our kitchen! Sure, treat yourself to a piece or two of your faves...mine are red Twizzlers...and the rest that you and your kids are probably going to get really sick of? Send it to a soldier. No guilt or extra pounds to be gained with that!

This One's For the Girls

As many of you are probably aware, thanks to the wildly successful pink-ribbon campaign, it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I know many of you have given both your time and money to the cause through the various options offered by The Susan G. Komen Foundation: Race for the Cure, Tri for the Cure, 3-day for the Cure, and even the clever Sleep-In for the Cure. Still more of you showed your support, by raising pledges for Avon's Walk for Breast Cancer. News channels offer Buddy Check calendars. Feel Your Boobies even has a contest, starting today, for video's best depicting how you can show your friends how to do a proper self-exam...yes, in VIDEO! Giving is even as simple, now, as rounding up your grocery bill, the difference going to research. How many of you have purchased any of the wide-ranging products that are being featured in the color pink, to raise awareness? One of my favorite ways to see this issue brought to light is the pink flair added to the uniforms of the NFL teams! Whichever way gets you involved, think pink...not just for the month of October but for all the month's of the year!
